Emily Green and Me

Emily Green and Me

A beautifully written novel that follows the trials of a young girl who has had a heart transplant. This challenging exploration is sometimes disturbing but always convincing.

This cool, funky story follows the trials of a young girl from a well-to-do family who has had heart transplant surgery. Emily Green is full of sadness, frustration and adolescent angst. Unbeknown to her, she is watched over by the (now dead) previous owner of her new heart, who wants to influence her life, make her listen to the music he likes and lose her snooty friends; he has plans to live through her. The two characters form a fine counterpoint, the one somber, the other lively and full of humour - albeit dead. This is a sophisticated ghost story, dealing with destiny and self-realisation.
